Most Chinese Restaurants in DC Metro serve this vegetable dish (stir-fry with garlic). Some Asian groceries also carry the fresh ones too.

It's available (and delicious!) at Banana Island restaurant in Daly City, California (near San Francisco). I would love to know where I can find some to cook at home.

Water spinach is easily available here in Southern California as Ong Choy. I have a 2 pound bunch in the fridge right now and had another 2 pound bunch two weeks ago. There are controls on growing it and the variety grown is the long leaf which can be grown in moist soil away from open water. I haven't seen the wide leaf variety here. Importing the seeds requires a USDA permit.
